This is MATCH director Alex Schiller, who loves the creative responsibility for each of his projects and diving into all the different departments that are part of making touching and exciting films.
His roots in filmmaking derive from his love for snowboarding, where he kickstarted his career as a producer, director, editor, and cinematographer for award-winning snowboarding films. Turning ideas into reality has always excited him the most, and directing remained his main focus. Working in uncontrollable environments and traveling the world for over two decades taught Alex how to improvise and handle unexpected situations.
This shaped his passion for documentary-style storytelling and working with real people. Alex is a true team player, collaborating with every department from the early script until the final touches in post.
Modern cinema, culture, sports, and people’s stories influence his style and cinematic approach. Honest. Emotive. Unique. Like a drug that makes you feel happier than before.
And you know what? Despite having had no musical training nor being able to read sheet music, Alex can listen to almost any song and replay it on the piano or the guitar almost immediately. Music is his retreat, his safe space, and one of his main creative inspirations, which is also reflected in his filmmaking.
