This is MATCH director Marta Trela - analytical and curious on the one hand and sensitive to beauty on the other.
Marta was born in Eastern Europe shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall and grew up watching the transition from communism to capitalism. It must have been a rather turbulent period because she somehow ended up living in 3 different countries. The unique – if somewhat unpleasant – experience of living abroad taught her independence, perseverance, and the ability to connect with, learn from, and engage with people from all walks of life, sparking an interest in documentary storytelling, intensified by years of travel.
She studied Cultural Studies at the University of the West of England, Film Directing at Lodz Film School, and graduated from an International Program at the Filmakademie BW.
Marta is most comfortable when mixing the authenticity of real-life protagonists with the appeal of cinematic language – looking at the world with a curious mind and eyes full of joy. Versatile, thoughtful, made-to-order content perfectly tailored to the client’s needs.
Marta is damn good at analyzing, researching, planning, and finding connections between facts and things. If she weren’t a director, she would probably be an enigmatic, reclusive private detective.
