This is MATCH director Porteus Xandau, who explains directing metaphorically as a total body workout - a machine of the arts — where you can flex all your creative muscles.
Ever since Porteus learned to walk and talk, he knew he was meant to be an artist. He always loved writing, painting, acting — basically any creative pursuit that doesn't involve mathematical skills.
After studying visual design and moving behind the camera, his work has become a pure reflection of his vast interests, ranging from performance-based narrative films to down and gritty documentaries. His unique vision and ability to capture emotion have grabbed the industry's attention. Porteus has been on a wild ride as a creative, teaming up with the "so-and-so's" and the „not-so-and-so’s," making commercials for every product under the sun, from electric cars to laundry detergents, and some stuff in between that you've probably never even heard of. As a filmmaker, he likes to blend striking visuals with such high-intensity performances that he refers to it as an "audio-visual double espresso.”
Porteus is studying “The 100 best wedding dance moves of all time” pocket guide and still can't dance. But he's good at other things instead, like customizing almost everything he buys, from shoelaces to cars to cake mix, or just forgetting the world and feeling the magic of film.
Hey Porteus…
